Botanical Gardens Engagement Session – Alex + Nathan – Clemson,SC Wedding Photographers
It is always fun to do engagement sessions in a location that is special to the couple. It makes it twice as fun when the location is beautiful and full of fun interesting backdrops for photos. When shooting Alex and Nathan’s Botanical Gardens engagement session we had all of that and more. The Botanical Gardens will always be a special place for these two not just because they are both Clemson students but because that is where Nathan proposed to Alex. Yet another of my favorite things is hearing the stories of how our couples became engaged. Being able to hear about it in the spot that it happened really brings it home.
Not only is the Botanical Gardens a special place for Alex and Nathan but it is a photographers playground. Anybody that follows us and especially anyone that has worked with us knows that we love seeking out interesting ways to show the location. Whether that be with a creative use of light, an unconventional pose, or changing the viewing angle just enough to make the same scene look like a completely different place. Seriously you never know when we might say,” Ok I need you guys to stand here right in the middle of these overgrown plants” (see the first photo of this post) and with the click of a shutter it looks like a scene from a modern day fairy tale.
We started off the day at the famous train that lies at the front of the Botanical Gardens, then we took a stroll down to the Hunt Log Cabin, but not before stopping at the spot where Nathan proposed. Then after a quick outfit change we went chasing the amazing light of golden hour to the gorgeous Kelly Meadow where we spent our time up through sunset.
I had a blast meeting and working with this amazing couple and can’t wait for their wedding in May of 2015!
Here a a few of my favorite shots of the day!
