Creative Engagement Session in Downtown Greenville SC – Alison + Jude

Two of the first questions I ask when we are planning a creative engagement session for a couple is “What do you guys like to do for fun?” and “Are there any places that are special to you guys?” I think it make the engagement session that much better when it is at a place that is familiar to the couple. Alison and Jude told me that they love spending time in downtown Greenville, SC and go there often, so it made that the natural choice for where to shoot their awesome session.

I was a little worried about the weather earlier that day when it was overcast and they were calling for a chance of rain. Our standard procedure (for lack of better words) is that if it is less than a 50% chance than we go ahead as planned. If it is more than 50% then we usually look for other options inside or reschedule. Since it was only a 40% chance, we went on as planned and never had any issues. Overcast days have a magic of their own. The clouds at as one big soft box giving this soft flattering light.  The vibrance of the blooming flowers are really accentuated. Couple that with one of the prettiest downtown areas in the country (yes, I’m biased) and a couple that is crazy about each other and you have the makings of a fun engagement session.

We met Alison and Jude at the top of Falls Park and started from there making our way down into the park stopping along the way for some fun shots.  We made a stop by the Epic “roots tree” and then up by one of my favorite spots on the backside of the park , the wall of ivy. Alison and Jude were such a pleasure to work with. It was great talking with them and getting to know them as we strolled through the park. As nightfall approached we made our way to the other side of Main street around the Peace Center for some fun in front of the fountains. We ended the session on one of the bridges on Main Street for some epic shots as the sun went down.
