Hendersonville , NC Bridal – Julianna – Grand Highlands at Bearwallow Mountain
I always forget that even though the mountains outside of Hendersonville, NC aren’t that far away from Greenville that the weather is always cooler there. The week we decided to shoot Julianna’s bridal session it had been abnormally warm in Greenville. Temperatures in the 90’s. Not exactly what you would call the best weather to shoot afternoon bridal portraits. So when the week of rolled around I contacted Julianna and told her that we might want to schedule an early morning session. Little did I know that a cold front would be passing through up there. Weather can be so unpredictable. If you told me that in late June we would be cold at a bridal session I would have laughed at you, but….you can see where I’m heading with this. We arrived at the Grand Highlands at Bearwallow Mountain at about 10am that morning to find 66 degree weather with the wind blowing 30mph+. It was actually refreshing compared to the weather we had been dealing with that week. And the wind turned out to make for some awesome shots of the bride. I mean fashion studios rent huge fans for this kind of stuff, and we got it naturally.
I have to say that Grand Highlands at Bearwallow mountain is absolutely stunning. Rolling valleys, an immaculate clubhouse, and a sweeping panoramic view of the Blue Ridge mountains in almost every direction you look. We started out close to the clubhouse where the light was amazing. I knew from the moment we snapped the first few frames that one of these would be the one. And it was. But we didn’t stop there. We ventured out into some tall grassy areas, out near the fence line, and took some amazing shots on the backside of the property with some awesome mountain views in the background. And did I mention that during all of this Julianna was such a trooper. Looking at these photos you would never know that between shots she had to warm up under a jacket.(Yes in late June).
We got to hang out with an awesome bride and her family, enjoy some crisp mountain weather, and make some amazing art in the process. Definitely a win in my book. Here are some of my favs from the day.
