WEDDING FAQ

Why should I choose Cureton Photography?

We love what we do and that shows in our photos. As a couple, we’ve experienced so much together and we want to bring that experience to your wedding. We’re married and have already made that big leap you are making. We understand exactly what the wedding day means to you and we want to do everything we can to make the day one of the most memorable of your life. We want to help the day go smoothly, help keep you calm and most importantly, take photographs that you will share with your friends and family, display on the walls of your home and show to your grandkids one day. We want you to hire us, not only because you like our work, but you like us as well.

What is your style?

We like to call our style “modern with a hint of traditional”. We use a combination of off camera lighting techniques with a strong knowledge of natural light to give our images a distinct cinematic feel.

I love your work. Explain the booking process.

We like to meet with you during a free consultation. During that time, we can answer any questions you have. The booking process is simple. We have a contract that you will sign and require a retainer to reserve your wedding date.

How much is the retainer to book my date?

$500 retainer required to book your day. We can customize a payment plan to meet your needs, with the remains of the balance due 14 days before you wedding.

How far in advance are you booked?

We typically book 6-12 months in advance. Email or call us to inquire about your date. Although we have booked stuff at the last minute, we typically book and recommend booking 9 months in advance because we do a limited number of weddings a year and our dates tend to fill up fast.

Why are two photographers better?

Using two photographers allows us to capture two different perspectives of all the major formalities of your day. It also allows us to provide better coverage of your big day so that we don’t miss a moment. For example as the bride is walking down the aisle John will be capturing her from the front and capturing the groom’s face as she walks in, while Anne captures her walking down the aisle from behind or above with a wide angle view of the entire venue. It also allows us to spend time with both the groom and the bride as they are getting ready for their special day without having to sacrifice one or the other.

How many weddings do you shoot in a day?

Only one. We want to be completely focused on your wedding that day and not feel like we need to rush off to another event.

Backup equipment?

Tons. We believe in having backups for equipment in case of mechanical malfunctions or accidents. That includes extra camera bodies, lenses, batteries … everything but the kitchen sink.(If Anne could figure out a way to pack one, she’s probably have one with her.)

Are you insured?

Yes we have both indemnity and liability insurance.

Can I see an entire wedding that you’ve shot?

Absolutely. We wouldn’t expect you to book a photographer without seeing an entire body of work from one wedding. Seeing the images captured from one complete wedding is the best representation of what you will receive from a wedding photographer.

Do you shoot in RAW?

Yes, every image we shoot in RAW ensuring maximum detail and resolution of each photo.

Do you use Photoshop?

Yes, we pride ourselves in editing and color correcting every image we deliver. We believe that your photos should look the best that they can. If that means removing the occasional powerline or distraction from an otherwise epic shot then we will glady do so. We have both been using Photoshop for over 14 years and are members of the National Association of Photoshop Professionals.

Can I purchase prints online?

Yes. We have an online gallery that allows you to purchase prints online. This is great for out of town wedding guests.

Are you available for travel?

Yes. We love to travel.

What to expect at engagement shoot?

Fun. Some cuddling with your fiancée. (Any day you get to snuggle up is a good day.) Our engagement shoots typical last 1-2 hours on location. We encourage bringing a change of outfits and any props that you feel may help show of your personal style or interests.

What to expect at a bridal session?

Typically our bridal session last 1-2 hours on location. We like to shoot classic and elegant shots of brides, but also push for more edgy and creative images and poses. A bridal shoot is a great dry run for all your wedding style – the hair, makeup, shoes and dress. It’s a time where we can get some stunning bridal photos in a relaxed atmosphere.
